Easy, Eggless Strawberry Ice Cream

One of my friends, Hilah, made this amazing strawberry ice cream and I ate so much of it that I HAD to get the recipe from her! It's from: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/easy-eggless-strawberry-ice-cream/detail.aspx

Ingredients
2 cups whole milk
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup white sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups mashed fresh strawberries ( I mashed mine with a fork)
2 drops red food coloring, optional ( I didn't use food coloring)

Directions

Place your ice cream freezer bowl into your freezer for at least 16 hours.

1. In a large bowl, combine the milk, cream, sugar, salt, vanilla, strawberries, and food coloring.

2. Pull the freezer bowl out of your freezer and set up your ice cream machine.

3. Pour the mixture into the freezer bowl of the ice cream maker and turn on for about 20 minutes, or until your ice cream gets to the consistency you are happy with. (I suggest putting your ice cream in a sealed container, in the freezer after you put it in your ice cream maker to continue the freezing process.)

* I cut this recipe in half because I wasn't sure if it would spill out of my ice cream maker! I'm glad I did! Half of this recipe made about 1.25 quarts of ice cream.
