E-Z Drop Biscuits

Do you ever crave a moist biscuit you can use for your strawberry shortcake AND your chicken pot pie? Oh, AND they are cheap, easy, and quick to make?! E-Z Drop Biscuits  (adapted from: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/21135/e-z-drop-biscuits/ ) The recipe states it makes 12 biscuits, but I make about 9 bigger biscuits with my ice cream scoop. Ingredients  2 cups all-purpose flour 1 Tablespoon baking powder 2 teaspoons white sugar 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar ( you don't have to put this in if you don't have any) 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup melted butter 1 cup milk Directions  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. 2. Combine in a large bowl: flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt. 3. Stir in melted butter and milk until just moistened. 4. Do you ever just have a random craving for chicken wings?! I do! Chicken wings can be soooo expensive at restaurants, and often times they're just not up to my standards (i.e. seasoning is off/ wings are soggy). My husband found this amazing recipe for wings. Here is a recipe that my mother-in-law gave me for Vegetable Pizza! Ingredients 2 (8 oz) packages of crescent rolls (i.e. Pillsbury) 1 small crown of broccoli ( you probably won't end up using that much) 1 ( 10 oz) bag matchstick carrots ( or regular size carrots and use a peeler to make into small pieces) 1 small crown of cauliflower 1 (8oz) package colby jack cheese 1 package ( 1 oz) The Original Ranch Dips mix (dry) 8 oz cream cheese (i.e. Philadelphia) 3/4 cup mayonnaise (i.e. Hellmann's) 1/2 cup sour cream 1 Tbsp dill weed dash of Worcestershire sauce Directions  1. Preheat oven to 375 F. 2. Roll out the crescent rolls, flat,  to fill up an un-greased rectangular cookie sheet. ( Do not separate.) 3. Hot Dog Chili

Sometimes our hot dogs need to be kicked up a notch. I found this recipe for hot dog chili and it just hit the spot! Jeff's Hot Dog Chili  ( adapted from: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/223538/jeffs-hot-dog-chili/ ) Ingredients  1 lb ground beef 1/3 cup water 1/2 (10 oz) can tomato sauce 1/2 cup ketchup 2 1/2 tsp chili powder 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp ground black pepper 1/2 tsp white sugar 1/2 tsp onion powder 1 dash Worcestershire sauce Directions  1. In a large saucepan, mash the beef and water with a potato masher. 2. Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, chili powder, salt, black pepper, sugar, onion powder, and Worcesterhire sauce. 3. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat until the chili thickens slightly and the beef is fully cooked, approximately 20 minutes. 4. Serve over your favorite hog dog or as a side dish!

My husband wanted a cranberry side dish for Thanksgiving that wasn't too mushy. He created this recipe all on his own! Cranberry Relish  Ingredients  8-10 oz cranberries 1/2 cup walnuts 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup organic unsweetened cranberry juice orange zest from 1 orange pinch of salt Directions  1. Chop up cranberries and walnuts as fine as desired. 2. Combine cranberries, walnuts, sugar, cranberry juice, orange zest, and pinch of salt in a saucepan and cook on low for 10 minutes, stirring about every 2 minutes. 3. Let cool before serving.

I love to eat scones, but sometimes I find ones that are just too dry. I watched an episode of Cook's Country the other day, and they made what looked like tasty berry scones! I made them, and they were tasty!! Mixed Berry Scones  Ingredients  Scones  1 3/4 cups frozen mixed berries 3 Tbsp confectioners' sugar 3 cups all purpose-flour 12 Tbsp unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch pieces, chilled 1/3 cup granulated sugar 1 Tbsp baking powder 1 1/4 tsp salt 3/4 cup plus 2 Tbsp whole milk 1 large egg plus 1 large yolk Glaze  2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted 1 Tbsp honey Directions 1. The weather has been getting colder lately, so I wanted to find another soup recipe. One of my husband's favorite drinks at Starbucks is the Green Tea Frappuccino, so I was so happy when I found this copycat recipe!!!!! https://www.foodfanatic.com/recipes/homemade-starbucks-green-tea-frappuccino-recipe/  Homemade Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino Ingredients  1 cup ice cubes 1 cup milk, soy or almond milk 1 Tbsp Matcha tea powder ( I used Teavana Matcha) 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract 2 Tbsp granulated sugar sweetened whipped cream, optional Directions  1. In a blender, place the ice cubes, milk, green tea powder, vanilla extract, and sugar. Blend well. 2. Pour into a glass and top with whipped cream, if desired.

Applesauce

I just went apple picking recently, and I was trying to figure out what to do with all those apples! I used to eat applesauce quite frequently as a kid, sooo....applesauce it is!!! Here is a recipe I adapted from Betty Crocker Cookbook- Heart Health Edition c2007 (p. 468) Applesauce Ingredients  (approx. 6 servings) 4 medium cooking apples (1 1/3 lb), peeled, cut into fourths and cored ( I used Honeycrisp apples and cut them up into smaller chunks so they would cook faster.) 1/4 cup water 1/4 cup packed brown sugar or 3-4 Tbsp granulated sugar ( I used brown sugar) 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg ( I totally forgot to get this at the store, so I used about 3 whole cloves instead.) Directions  1. In a 3 1/2-to 6-quart slow cooker, mix all of the ingredients. Cover and cook on the High heat setting for about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours or until the apples are tender; stir. (My apples took about 2 hours to cook.)
